I was contemplating doing that "101 goals in 1001 days" thing, but I could only come up with 33 goals.

Goal #34: daydream

I'm contemplating it, too. But I hate to say I'm going to do something if there's a big chance I won't. So I might do 50 goals in 1001 days or something.

I came up with 24. You are way ahead of me.

Are there other rules aside from 101 goals?

From Day Zero (http://triplux.com/dayzero/),

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?: Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

It took me DAYS. I kept the paper with me and just jotted things down as they occurred to me. I also tried to do it by category; it was easy to think of five goals for crocheting, for example, but it would have been really hard to think of them without the crocheting framework.

That's a pretty good #34, though. :)

Take a look at the Day Zero (http://triplux.com/dayzero/) site (the originators of the 1001 project) for the rules and for ideas. They have a list of participating blogs, and you can see what other people have set as goals. Maybe you'll find a few new items to stick on your list.

1001 days is almost three years so you can make short term and long term goals, including things you were dreaming about doing someday. : )
